If you haven’t tried black bean burgers or are scared to try it. TRY IT it wont disappoint. It’s perfect for the grill. You can have it like a regular burger or put it over greens with a citrus dressing.

- 1/3 cup cooked quinoa ( i use boil in a bag tricolored quinoa)
- 1 can black beans, drain and finished
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup gluten free bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup minced fresh parsley
- 4 garlic cloves chopped
- 3 tbsp onion powder
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ground pepper
- Add water to saucepan and bring to a boil then add the quinoa, then reduce the heat to low, cover and cook for 15 min or until fluffy
- While that is cooking add the drained black beans to a bowel and take a fork to smash them and make a semi paste. ( or you could you a food processor) add the quinoa, eggs, bread crumbs, parsley, garlic, onion powder, cumin, salt and pepper. Mix until fully combined.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hr
- Form the mixture into 4 patties
- You can either place the patties on the grill or you a large skillet on the stove. Cook the patties for about 3-5 min on each side or until seared on outside and heated throughout.





If I know I want to make these for dinner after work one night. I will do the prep work the night before and leave them in the fridge until I am ready to cook. The mixture will hold up in the fridge.

- Sliced Cheese pepper jack, American, Swiss

Remove it from the pan and let it cool for 5 mins.Once cool add the quinoa, eggs, bread crumbs, parsley, garlic, onion powder, cumin, salt and pepper into the black beans. Mix until fully combined.Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hr.Once chilled, form the mixture into 4 patties. Cook on the grill or in a large skillet on the stove. Cook the patties for about 3-5 min on each side or until seared on outside and heated throughout.Top with cheese is desired.
Notes
There will be leftover quinoa. I freeze mine to cut the prep time down for the next time I use this recipe or make it into a side dish for another meal.
